Organic Brazil nuts

€4,50

The Brazil nut is the seed of the Bertholletia Excelsa, an Amazonian tree belonging to the Lecythidaceae family, which grows spontaneously in the Amazon forest between Brazil, Peru and Bolivia.

There is no cultivation of Brazil nuts in the world. The entire production is entrusted entirely to the expert hands of Mother Nature.

Each mature tree, between 30 and 50 meters high, produces around 300 walnuts. Each coconut contains between 25 and 30 nuts. Between December and March of each year, the so-called "rainy season", the coconuts, now ripe, fall to the ground.

The collection and transport (mostly river) to the collection and processing centers is carried out by the indigenous populations who guarantee the conservation of the forest.

The REWILD Brazil nuts come from Bolivia, where we had the opportunity to visit various of the wooded areas of origin, but also various product processing plants, deepening and guaranteeing knowledge of the entire production chain.

In addition to being delicious and naturally organic, Brazil nuts have a series of nutritional characteristics that make them truly exceptional.

They are very rich in proteins (about 15%), contain mainly good, monounsaturated fats, such as palmitoleic and oleic acids,  which help fight bad cholesterol. They also have very high levels of vitamin B1, vitamin E, phosphorus and magnesium, but above all they are full of selenium.

Selenium is a powerful natural antioxidant. In fact, one Brazil nut satisfies the entire daily requirement: approximately 55 micrograms for adults. In pregnant and breastfeeding women it rises to 60 and 70 micrograms per day respectively.

Ingredients: 100% organic Brazil nuts.

Allergens: The Brazil nut is an allergen pursuant to Annex 2 section III Legislative Decree 109/1992 and subsequent amendments. It may contain traces of other nuts, sesame seeds and sesame seed-based products.

Uses: They are now available on the market without the shell (very difficult to break). They can be enjoyed both toasted and raw, as a practical and quick snack or they can be cut, minced or powdered and used as an ingredient for an infinite number of sweet and savory recipes.
