Organic Black Chia Seeds
Chia is the common name of Salvia Hispanica, a floral plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family, which includes many aromatic plants, such as oregano, rosemary and mint. Native to Mexico and Guatemala, it was already cultivated by the Aztecs in pre-Columbian times.
Salvia Hispanica looks like a bush up to 2 meters high, composed of leaves and long stems at the apex of which inflorescences ranging from white to purple develop. To the casual eye it might look like a lavender bush.
The word chia comes from the Nahuatl chian , meaning oily. The name of the current Mexican state of Chiapas comes from the Nahuatl expression "chia water" or "chia river".
Chia seeds are a rich source of macro and micronutrients.
Among macronutrients, chia seeds provide omega 3 and omega 6 fats in an ideal ratio: in this way they help control inflammatory processes, promote good development of the nervous system and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disorders.
Among the micronutrients, however, chia seeds are a source of molecules that promote the proper functioning of the metabolism, protect the health of bones and teeth, help the correct development of the nervous system and exert an antioxidant action.
Furthermore, chia seeds are characterized by a low glycemic index.
It is recommended to consume up to 15 g (about 2 teaspoons) daily, possibly in the morning in milk, yogurt, in a freshly squeezed juice or juice, or, more simply, in a glass of water.
Leave the seeds in the chosen liquid for at least 10 minutes before consuming them.
In this time the seeds will absorb water (up to 12 times their weight) and release a gelatinous substance, based on fibre, which promotes cleansing of the intestine, regulates its functions and reduces the risk of constipation.
Ingredients: 100% organic chia seeds.
Allergens: May contain traces of nuts, sesame seeds and sesame seed products.
Uses: The seeds and their powder can be consumed raw as indicated above or in fresh salads or fruit salads, retaining all their nutritional characteristics. Alternatively it is an excellent and tasty ingredient for sweet and savory preparations to be cooked. However, it is good to remember that most of the beneficial macronutrients it contains, however, do not resist high temperatures.
